Talking plants of wonder

So I bought a...

...Nintendo Talking Plant. You know, that chatty plant from Super Mario Wonder, review here, which gives you tips or just words of wisdom. Sometimes. Otherwise, it just likes to chat away.

This battery driven plastic display plant, about the size of coffee mug, runs on a set of AA batteries and talks. Yes, that's what it does. First time you power it up you set the time, what time it wakes up and when it goes to bed. During its waking hours the talking plant will randomly throw out sentences throughout the day.

There's an impressive number of lines on offer, even supporting ten languages, repeating itself seldom during the span of many days. Since it's based off a clock it will announce the time every whole hour too. There's a button on the plant pot which will make it talk when pushed, holding it will mute it for a while and holding it further will result in music playing.

Simple layout, aimed at just being a display item which talks now and then.

Build quality is solid and durable plastic with a nice paint job to replicate the cute flower from the game. The price, however, is too steep ifor what it is. It should've had a built-in, USB-C chargeable, battery for the asking price.

Other than handing you some witty sentences, announcing the hour and saying good morning & night, there isn't much more to say about it. Me and the kids found it extra funny as we've been enjoying the Bellabel Park add-on recently and the plant is a humorous and recognisable entry to the excellent game.

It holds the right amount of quiet not to become annoying too, although my wife will disagree, which is key for something that makes sound.

Pick it up for a funny display item which talks, just don't expect much functionality for its steep price tag. If you're curious to how it sounds, go check out my video on Instagram!
